The majority of property managers would not know the exact height of their buildings, and this is an issue because determining whether the building is a high rise isn’t just about counting stories and making rough calculations.
There are very specific rules when measuring the height of a building. These are:
- Bottom measurement – lowest ground side of the building
- Top measurement – top habitable floor level
Very different regulations apply depending on the classification of your building. The line between high-rise and mid-rise is separated by a single millimetre.
